Mozambique: Households forced to seek safer places following terrorist movements in Chai

There are still no clues in the murder of a PRM agent assigned to the Special Operations Group (GOE) in Maputo province.
The assault occurred at around 10:00 p.m. on Monday of last week, close to the victim’s residence in the Primeiro de Maio neighbourhood, in Matola municipality.
The officer, aged around 40, was shot dead by individuals travelling in a light vehicle while he was socialising with friends and neighbours, and was pronounced dead at the hospital moments after the incident.
The criminals fled shortly after the crime was committed.
Police spokesperson in Maputo Province, Carminia Leite, told Radio Mozambique on Friday that, four days after the officer’s murder, the corporation still has no definite clues as to the identity and location of the protagonists.
The Special Operations Group is a PRM unit responsible for combating kidnappings, terrorism, drug and human trafficking.
