Police in Maputo province say they have dismantled an alleged drug factory in Namaacha district and detained a number of Mexican nationals in connection with operations there.
The residence in the Miramar report reveals modifications for the manufacture of drugs, with machines used for processing chemical substances and drums of ethanol, acetone and others visible.
The raw materials. whose strong odour originally aroused police suspicions, are presumed to have been used to manufacture heroin, Miramar reports, though adding that the type of drug manufactured there has not yet been fully ascertained by the police.
The police arrested five citizens of Mexican nationality and two Mozambicans, all aged between 23 and 50 years of age, all of whom claim to be involved in civil construction work, although no building material was found on the site.
One Mexican citizen, speaking in the TV Miramar report below, claimed the material was already in the house, while the Mozambicans say that they were hired as security guards to protect the property
The police however are sure that the property was being used to manufacture narcotics.
The Mexicans accused say that they arrived in Mozambique roughly two weeks ago.
