The General Commander of the Mozambique Republic Police (PRM), Bernardino Rafael, paid tribute yesterday to members of the force who lost their lives in combat with terrorists in the Quirimbas archipelago earlier this month.
The occasion, Rafael said, also served to console the families of the deceased and show them where their relatives’ graves were.
The PRM general commander spoke today in the village of Muepane, where the Rapid Intervention Unit Barracks is located, during the commissioning of senior officers, subalterns and sergeants of the regiment combating terrorism alongside other Defence and Security Forces in the Northern Operational Theatre (TON).
Without specifying the number or identity of the deceased, Rafael urged the newly commissioned officers to “avenge the deaths of their colleagues” by “pursuing the perpetrators of the killings.”
