The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) arrested five persons this Thursday in Inhassoro district, Inhambane province. The detainees are accused of invading and vandalising the Mangungumete police station, the home of the head of the locality and the home of the secretary of the Frelimo party zone committee.
The detainees were part of a group of protesters who seriously injured a police officer who was part of the team trying to prevent the obstruction of National Road Number 1, in the locality of Mangungumete.
Police spokesperson Nércia Bata also said that the police recovered a weapon that was in the possession of the protesters.
