Police have arrested two poachers in Inhambane in possession of elephant tusks in Vilanculos in the north of Inhambane province.
The head of PRM operations in Vilanculos, Julião Munguambe, confirmed the seizure of a vehicle the miscreants were using in the poaching of elephant and other species.
According to the police, this is the first instance of the detention of individuals in connection with poaching in Vilanculos.
The elephant is one of the world’s five most endangered species.
