Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) in Inhambane province yesterday interrupted the supply of electricity to the districts of Zavala, Inharrime, Maxixe, Panda, Homoíne, Morrumbene, Massinga and Funhalouro in Inhambane, plus part of the city of Inhambane itself, because of faults in the electricity network infrastructure caused by the rain, strong winds and thunder and lightning affecting that part of the country.
According to a note from EDM, energy supply restrictions also affected the village of Ndindiza, in Gaza province, due to a malfunction in the 110 kilovolt power line linking Chicumbane to the Lindela substation in Inhambane.
EDM technical teams were working on the ground to restore the normal supply of energy to the affected areas, the note reports.
In addition, according to the document released on Sunday, all electrical installations in the aforementioned areas should be considered potentially ‘live’, and the public should not to go near them or touch any electrical infrastructure, including cables or poles.
