The Assembly of the Republic’s Commission for Constitutional Affairs, Human Rights and Legality has ‘noted with satisfaction’ the efforts of the government of Cabo Delgado to alleviate the suffering of the victims of terrorist attacks in that part of the country, Rádio Moçambique reports.
The satisfaction was expressed in the city of Pemba on Friday by the president of the Commission, António Buene, at a press conference marking the end of the parliamentarians’ five-day working visit to the province.
António Boene, who heads the Commission which worked in the districts of Metuge, Chiure and Montepuez and in the city of Pemba, said he had seen a spirit of positive solidarity encouraging the displaced to gradually rebuild their lives.
But, despite the efforts of governing bodies in the province, the displaced still needed more support, he said.
Among several objectives, the visit of the Commission on Constitutional Affairs, Human Rights and Legality of the Assembly of the Republic had aimed to learn about the situation in districts affected by terrorist action, in reinforcement of national solidarity.
