Mozambique: Overtime to be paid promptly in 2025

Overtime pay for teachers and health professionals will be paid promptly from 2025
on, according to guarantees given by the government in Maputo yesterday.
Council of Ministers spokesperson Filimão Suaze explained at the end of the
cabinet’s 37th ordinary session that, in order to avoid the accumulation of overtime
debts, actions were underway to establish control measures with a view to ensuring
that the hours worked in a month were paid in a timely manner up to the limit of the
budget available in the organic units concerned.
He indicated that the government had prioritized the payment of salaries and other
supplements, leaving liabilities related to overtime subject to the verification and
validation process by the Finance, Education and Health inspectorates.
