The National Council of the Renamo party, previously scheduled for March 7 and 8, has been postponed, for unspecified reasons. Announcing the decision in Maputo on Tuesday, Renamo spokesperson Marcial Macome said that the decision of the party president did not mean that the National Council would not be held, “because, according to the statutes, we have to hold two National Councils and I think we still have time”.
The scheduling of the meeting was one of the demands of Renamo members, who demonstrated on several occasions in front of party buildings throughout the country, even demanding the removal of Ossufo Momade from the leadership of the party.
