The National Institute of Communications of Mozambique (INCM) has instructed mobile phone operators to block all unregistered mobile phone SIM cards from 1 December.
A press release sent to Noticias states that the decision complies with the provisions of the Rules of Registration and Activation of Subscriber Identification Modules Mobile Telephone Service (SIM cards), approved by the Decree No. 18/2015 of 28 August.
The purpose of the measure is to improve the public’s lives regarding operations that can be performed via phone, including value-added services, by protecting them against crimes that can be perpetrated using cell phones and promoting the responsible use of the SIM cards.
The INCM statement on all subscribers whose SIM cards are not yet registered for them to regularise their devices so as to continue to enjoy safe communications.
