The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development predicts that one million households will escape food poverty by 2025 as a result of the implementation of the SUSTENTA program.
Speaking on Wednesday during the government’s information session in the Assembly of the Republic, Celso Correia said that the program would improve food security, job creation, social inclusion and productivity.
“Of the approximately 4.2 million households living in rural areas, around 1.8 million were in a situation of consumption and income poverty, due to their limited agricultural development, namely low productivity, and poor access to productive technologies, financial services and markets,” he highlighted.
