One person died and 11 others were seriously injured when a “My Love” passenger transport vehicle went off the road and overturned in Manhiça district, Maputo province, at about 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Police spokesperson Carmínia Leite reported that the accident occurred in the Chibututuine area, when a ‘Dyna’ model Toyota truck travelling at excessive speed crashed and overturned, causing serious injury to all 12 people travelling in it.
The injured were evacuated to Manhiça District Hospital, where one was declared dead, Leite said.
“The van, travelling on the Manhiça-Maluana stretch of the road, was driven by a 48-year-old resident of the Mahotas neighbourhood in Maputo,” Leite explained.
