Mozambique on the list of the 18 best destinations for 2018

The Thrillist Travel website recently released its list of the 18 best destinations for long vacations in 2018.
Mozambique features on the list of destinations to visit, and is described as a place that combines leisure, adventure and culture at affordable prices.
“If you’re seeking out a big, remote destination in the new year, a safari in habitually underrated Mozambique is your answer,” reads the report,.
“This year marks the completion of the Lagoon Coast road project linking neighbouring South Africa to Mozambique’s capital Maputo and beyond. No more dirt-road slogs: transport will be eons easier, especially handy with a coastline that’s nearly as long as the American East Coast,” Thrillist Travel writes .
“Start on the faded Art Deco streets of Maputo. You’ll be greeted by fish market stalls where you can gather clams, squid, and the country’s legendary foot-long tiger prawns, and have them grilled for you at a local restaurant. Drive up to Gorongosa National Park, one of the most diverse national parks in the world, housing lions, elephants, buffalo, wildebeests, zebras, waterbucks, and impala,” the article reads.

The list of destinations for long journeys in 2018 takes into account the offer of beautiful places, prices, flight access and the opinions of readers and travel experts.
Top of the list is the US city of Louisiana in New Orleans, followed by Russia, and, in third place, Iceland. Colombia, Malta, California, Hamburg and Jordan occupy places four through eight respectively.
