Olinda Namburete Mendes passed away last Wednesday in Portugal, of an illness. She was 47 years old and, at the time of her death, worked as general manager of the Gungu theatre company.
Better known as Lindinha, Olinda Namburete Mendes was the wife of the Secretary of State for Sports, Carlos Gilberto Mendes. A businesswoman, she also carried out various social actions.
Lindinha was the presenter of the STV children’s program, ‘Tribo Júnior’, and complemented the production cast of the television program ‘Conexões do Gil’.
Family and friends said goodbye to Olinda Mendes on Tuesday with songs, prayers and messages at a wake in the Santo António da Polana church in Maputo.
For the family, her legacy will live on forever.
“Our sister had to leave too soon, but we will never let her fall into oblivion. We will do everything to remember the incredible woman who left us,” one of the deceased’s sisters said.
“You went and left the world with so much to talk about, so much to do, always thinking about the well-being of the family, of which you were a pillar,” another representative of the Mendes family said.
Lindinha leaves three children.
