Olavo Deniasse took office as the new director-general of the National Mining Institute (INAMI) this Friday Among his main missions are a commitment to improve measures and actions that contribute to the consolidation of the national mining sector, for the benefit of all Mozambicans.
At the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Maria Benvinda Levi challenged the new INAMI director-general to strengthen supervision, ensuring that mining production is carried out using efficient and environmentally sustainable technologies.
The prime minister also urged Director-General Deniasse to improve licensing management mechanisms, ensuring that mining permits are issued within the legally established deadlines.
The new head of INAMI was also encouraged to intensify actions that promote the organization of artisanal miners into associations and cooperatives. This measure aims to promote more sustainable exploitation of natural resources, combat mineral smuggling, increase revenue collection for the State, as well as create more jobs and generate income for Mozambicans.
INAMI was created by the government with the aim of ensuring the establishment of standards and guidelines regarding the participation of the public and private sector in the research, exploitation, processing, export and import of mining products and their derivatives. In this context, the institute must continue to improve policies and actions that contribute to the increase and optimization of mining production, with a special focus on adding value to mineral resources produced in the national market.
Olavo Deniasse replaces Dino Milice in the post.
