The leaders of Angola and Mozambique will next Tuesday be in Paris for a meeting on the future of African economies and will have bilateral meetings with the French president.
This event will also be attended by the Portuguese Prime Minister, António Costa.
Angolan President João Lourenço and Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi are among the 15 or so African leaders who will be in Paris on Tuesday to discuss the funding of African debt and the future of the private sector on the continent.
However, these Lusophone leaders will receive special attention from the Elysée, meeting Tuesday morning alone with President Emmanuel Macron in two separate meetings.
On the bilateral agenda of the meeting between Macron and Filipe Nyusi is the situation in Cabo Delgado and coordination plans between neighbouring countries to tackle terrorism in that region, as well as the various offers of aid from Portugal, the United States and France, according to a source from the Élysée.

The situation in the town of Palma has affected France’s financial interests in the region as French giant Total was preparing to invest some US$20 billion in a mega project to explore for natural gas in the Rovuma basin in northern Mozambique. The French company abandoned this project indefinitely and has been cancelling all contracts in the field.
António Costa will also be in Paris on Tuesday, putting on his two hats as Prime Minister of Portugal, but also as President of the Council of the European Union.
Other European leaders such as the Italian Prime Minister, Mario Draghi, and the Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, are also coming to Paris to meet their African counterparts.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel will follow the meeting by videoconference, as will the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.
France has decided to add to this occasion a conference in support of the Sudanese transition on Monday morning, where the main actors of the region will be present.
