The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, this Thursday laid the foundation stone for the development of the Moatize district health centre in Tete province into a district hospital.
This project, costed at an estimated US$5.5 million, is financed by the Vulcan mining
company, as part of its social responsibility programme.
President Nyusi mentioned that the geographical location of Tete province, and of
Mozambique in general, puts it at risk of illegal immigration, alleging that the numerous border violations were contributing to an increase in crime.
President Nyusi cited money laundering, human trafficking and terrorism, among others,
reporting that thousands of border violations had been recorded in the past five years.
The head of state was speaking on Thursday (03-10) following the inauguration of the
Judicial Court of the district of Chiuta in Tete province.
The Chiuta District Judicial Court comprises a courtroom, five offices, two registries, a deliberation room, and is costed at approximately 65 million meticais.
