President Nyusi yesterday inaugurated a non-intrusive inspection system for checking merchandise on the Nacala corridor railway line in the village of Namialo, Meconta district, in Nampula province.
The state-of-the-art equipment represents a great advance for the national customs authorities, facilitating inspection of domestic and international goods transiting this important corridor.
As well as acknowledging the people who welcomed him upon his arrival, the head of state also held a meeting with representatives of teachers from schools in Nampula to listen to their concerns.
President Nyusi also met district government personnel to assess progress and challenges in a region that is experiencing remarkable growth, especially in the agrarian sector.
Responding to the population’s concerns regarding water supply, President Nyusi urged the authorities to find solutions in this regard.
Before visiting Meconta, the president inaugurated a photovoltaic electricity supply system at the Mucuali administrative post in Larde district.
Today, the last day of his visit, Filipe Nyusi visits the district of Eráti, where he will inaugurate a new water supply system at the administrative post of Alua.
