The province of Niassa, in northern Mozambique, will hold the First Investment Forum on November 10th, an event that will bring together several national and international bodies.
The government and partners will spend 7.4 million meticais to support the logistics of the event that will take place in the city of Lichinga, under the motto “Agriculture and Energy as Factors in the Development of the Province of Niassa”.
According to spokesperson José Manuel, the aim of the meeting, organised in partnership with the Agro-industrial Association, is to mobilise investment through the promotion of cash crops such as macadamia, soybeans, corn and wheat, among others.
The president of the Agro-industrial Association of Niassa, Inocêncio Sotomane, hopes that the meeting will bring opportunities for the local business community, which also intends to take advantage of partnerships to explore natural resources.
The Niassa Agro-industrial Association also hopes that the First Investment Forum can serve as a platform for the expansion of electrical energy, coverage of which was by 2022 only 36%.
The event, financed by the African Development Bank, Irish Embassy in Mozambique and Lúrio University, will be opened by Prime Minister Adriano Maleiane, and brings together around 200 participants.
