New toll plazas in Tete province may still come into operation this year, Radio Mozambique reports.
According National Roads Administration (ANE) delegate Victor Maicolo, two tolls, located on National Highway Number 9 (N9), are currently being built in Chiritse, one on the border between Chiuta and Chiifunde districts, and the other in Chimambe, Moatize district.
Three other toll plazas have already been completed and are awaiting operationalization pending the full rehabilitation of the respective roads. The completed toll plazas comprise two tolls in Changara district and one, the Mameme toll, in Moatize district.
Maicolo said that the proposed rates for the N9 tolls would be 50 meticais for Class One vehicles, 200 meticais for Class Two, 500 meticais for Class Three and 1,000 meticais for Class Four vehicles.
Maicolo was speaking at the Ordinary Session of the Tete Provincial Executive Council, extended in this occasion to district administrators.
The Governor of Tete province, Domingos Viola, mandated the dissemination and enhancement of these toll rate proposals, so as not to disadvantage users and the population of the province.
