Mozambique’s prime minister, Adriano Maleiane, has urged the new General Inspectors of Public Administration to find innovative approaches in order to effectively implement the 2023-2032 Strategy for Preventing and Combating Corruption in the sector.
This was the main orientation of Maleiane’s comments at the inauguration of the new Inspector General of Public Administration, Laura Nhancale, and new Deputy Inspector General Célio Goca, last Friday (09-06).
The prime minister urged those sworn into office to improve their articulation and coordination with the General Inspectorate of Finance, the Central Office to Combat Corruption (GCCC) and the Provincial Offices to Combat Corruption (GPCCs).
The new inspectors must also continue to carry out and reinforce regular inspection and monitoring missions in all public administration bodies and services.
At the same ceremony, Maleiane also swore into office the new Deputy Inspector General of the National Research Fund (FNI), Florêncio Maulano, and the new Deputy Director General of the Institute of Scholarships (IBE), Juma Muteliha.
Florêncio Maulano should, Maleiane advised, continue to focus on establishing public and private partnerships to increase the National Research Fund’s capacity to intervene and respond to the demands of the national academic and scientific community.
In turn, Juma Muteliha was urged to improve the eligibility criteria for awarding scholarships, observing better gender equity and regional balance in order to benefit more Mozambicans.
