The standing commission of Mozambique’s parliament has scheduled the second ordinary session of this year for the period from 15 October to 17 December.
The dates were announced after the committee met in Maputo, the country’s capital, on Thursday, to define what issues were to be debated in parliament in the coming months.
On 21 October, the assembly is to receive the country’s president, Filipe Nyusi, who will take stock of the period from 8 August to 6 September of the state of emergency already declared to help stop the spread of the new coronavirus that causes Covid-19.
The parliamentary agenda also includes sessions dedicated to the annual report by the Ombudsman, information from the government, and debates on the proposed Economic and Social Plan and State Budget Law for 2021.
The session is to end with the annual address by the head of state.
Members of this ninth parliament took office on 13 January, following the general elections of 15 October 2019.
The governing Frelimo party secured 184 of the assembly’s 250 seats, Renamo 60 and the MDM six.
