Mozambique’s National Institute of Social Security board of directors has a new chairman, with Kabir Ibraimo sworn into office this Wednesday by Prime Minister Carlos Agostinho do Rosário.
The appointment of Kabir Ibraimo, who is also Vice-President of the CTA and President of the Association of Commerce and Industry of Nampula, comes after the Council of Ministers rejected the private sector’s first choice to head INSS, Bernardo Cumaio.
In his speech, the newly sworn in chairman highlighted the urgent need to master the functioning of the institution in order to design strategies for a clampdown on corruption and embezzlement.
The Prime Minister appealed to the new Chairman of the INSS Board of Directors for transparency and respect for the institution’s operating system.
One of Ibraimo’s most pressing challenges is to consolidate the trust of the contributors who channel funds to the INSS.
The chairman of the INSS Board of Directors is appointed on a rotating basis by the government, the private sector [CTA] and the Workers Union [OTM].
After the dismissal of Francisco Mazoio, who had been indicated for the post by the OTM, it was now the turn of the CTA.
