Mozambique: Sweden provides $13M for Renamo disarmament

The Minister of Transport and Communications, Mateus Magala, sworn into office this Friday, November 29, 2024, new staff to perform management and leadership roles.
These are Fernando Andela, appointed to the role of National Director of Transport and Security; Celso Abílio Xerinda and Adriana Pedro Rafael Miranda, to the roles of Administrators of the National Institute of Communications of Mozambique (INCM); and Flora Jannet Chrispen to the position of Administrator of the National Institute of Land Transport (INATRO).
Fernando Andela, a Master in Development Studies, is a senior member of the Ministry of Transports and Communications (MTC), where he held various management and leadership roles, with emphasis on Director of Infrastructure Services for the Province of Maputo, a position he held at the time of his appointment.
Celso Xerinda, Master in Business Management, is an INCM staff member and at the time of his appointment worked as Head of the Organizational Planning and Development Department at INCM. Adriana Miranda holds a master’s degree in Business Administration, a senior member of INCM, where, among her other activities, she served as head of the Postal Department.
Flora Jannet Chrispen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. At the time of her appointment, she was serving as Head of the Provincial Administration and Finance Department of the Maputo City Fiscal Court.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Magala said that the nominated cadres were selected in a transparent and inclusive process.
“The inducted staff were carefully selected, through a broad public competition, during which all qualified and interested candidates competed on equal terms, with an independent jury selecting the most qualified, considering their vast experience and knowledge accumulated in areas to which they today receive the challenge of making their contribution,” he said.
Minister Magala urged the newly sworn-in to cultivate values such as inclusion, integrity and transparency in all processes in which they are involved, respecting and enforcing the law and established procedures.
