The new Frelimo Central Committee meets in an extraordinary session which will be a “Seminar for the Induction of the CC New Members” today and tomorrow in Inhambane.
Frelimo party spokesperson Ludimila Magune told Radio Mozambique that the meeting is intended to help orient the new members of the Central Committee to respond to the challenges facing the party over the next five years.
The Central Committee is Frelimo’s most important management body in the interval between congresses.
Among the new members of the Central Committee deriving from the 12th Congress are the following.
Members of the previous Central Committee omitted are Inocêncio Impissa, Deputy Minister of State Administration and Civil Service ; Joaquim Veríssimo, former Minister of Justice; Mouzinho Saíde, Director General of the Maputo Central Hospital; Prakash Prelad, businessman and administrator of the National Institute of Social Security; and Manuel Formiga, former president of the National Youth Council.

The Central Committee is composed of 250 members.
One of the novelties of the XII Frelimo Congress was the proclamation by the president of six honorary members with the right to vote, in recognition of their achievements in Frelimo’s history. These are founding members Feliciano Gundana, Lopes Tembe and João Munguambe; and former Secretaries General Manuel Tomé, Filipe Paunde, and Eliseu Machava.
