The Governor of Cabo Delgado, Valige Tauabo, on June 28 and 29 oversaw the transfer of power to Oliveira Amimo and João Buchili, replacing Etelvina Rita Fevereiro and Agostinho Ntawali respectively as administrators of the districts of Chiúre and Palma.
Watch the Miramar report on the swearing in ceremony of Palma District Administrator, Joao Buchili.
The ceremony consisted of handing over the symbols of power, namely, the Constitution of the Republic, gavel and national flag, and the signing of the terms of transfer of power.
The provincial governor urged the two new district administrators to exercise their functions in such a way as to involve diverse social segments in solving the problems facing the communities.
Tauabo challenged the new administrators to help increase production and productivity rates to bolster food security and the availability of quality and quantity products in the local market. Through commercialization, agro-processing would contribute to the creation of new jobs and the generation of income for families, Governor Tauabo said.
Chiure, the most populous district in Cabo Delgado province, reported the most cases of cholera this year, and Governor Tauuabo challenged Administrator Amimo to involve all stakeholders in devising an urgent response to this and other waterborne diseases.
