The National Roads Administration (ANE) is looking for a contractor to carry out repair works on the section of National Road Number One (N1) between the town of Incoluane, in the district of Bilene, and Xai-Xai, in Gaza, a distance of approximately 80 kilometers.
This is not a major intervention, but rather work aimed at ensuring vehicle trafficability in better conditions of comfort and safety.
The works are subdivided into two phases, the first of which will be localized repairs in critical areas, lasting approximately 18 months, and the second of which will be routine maintenance, which will take two years.
ANE source warns that the work may affect traffic in some critical sections, where it may be necessary to cut the road for resealing and/or reconstruction, which may require the creation of detours.
The intervention comes at a time when the executive is working to ensure a more in-depth rehabilitation of the entire N1, and has currently been ensuring passability in some sections considered critical, such as Inchope-Gorongosa.
It is worth noting that, in addition to these emergency interventions, ANE has been intervening to guarantee the circulation of vehicles in several sections, with emphasis on the 3 de Fevereiro-Incoluane route, a 17-kilometer route; Chissibuca-Lindela, 132; and Gorongosa-Muera, 65. Regarding the rehabilitation of the N1 within the scope of World Bank financing, it is known that the interventions will, in a first phase, cover 508 kilometers, namely between Inchope and Gorongosa (70 kilometers); Gorongosa-Caia (kilometer zero to 84); Gorongosa-Caia (kilometer 84 to kilometer 168).
In Sofala, the works will be carried out on the Chimuara-Nicoadala route (kilometer zero to kilometer 88); and Chimuara-Nicoadala (kilometer 88 to kilometer 176); in Zambezia, Metoro-Pemba (90 kilometers), in Cabo Delgado.
