Mozambique: President names former Justice Minister as Prime Minister

The management of medicines in Mozambique will improve with the entry into operation of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (ANARME), whose statutes were approved by the Council of Ministers yesterday.
Cabinet spokesman Filimão said that the statutes define the rules for the organization, management, operation and powers of ANARME bodies, whose establishment aims to improve the management of medicines and their distribution.
The Executive also appreciated and approved the draft revision the Copyright and Related Rights Law, to be submitted to the Assembly of the Republic (AR).
The review is intended to promote and protect literary, artistic and scientific works, as well as the rights of the respective authors, artists, interpreters, audio-visual performers and radio broadcasters.
“The purpose of this review is to stimulate the creation and production of intellectual work in the areas of literature, arts and science,” Swazi told journalists at the end of the Council of Ministers session.
Swazi revealed that the government had approved a decree creation of a National Blood Service (SENASA, IP) to supervise the donation and transfusion of blood and its components, adjusting the co-related management and institutional functioning mechanisms in order to ensure the management, coordination, guidance, regulation, training, accreditation, monitoring. It also foresees the inspection of activities related to the donation and transfusion of blood and its components (red cells, platelets, and plasma).
Yesterday’s cabinet session also approved a decree updating the nature of the National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) in response to the current challenges on climate change and the observance of international standards defined by specialised United Nations agencies.
The Council of Ministers also assessed current and prospective Covid-19 prevention measures.
