Go Mambas! Mozambique names 25 for decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers
Mozambique’s national football team, the Mambas, have risen nine places in the FIFA ranking according to the most recent update from the world football body, moving up from 98th to 89th position with 381 points.
Argentina continues to head the FIFA world ranking.
Mozambique’s rise may be related to their win against Mauritius in the final match of the CAN 2017 qualifiers, coming second in the group won by Ghana.
The Mambas however failed to stamp their passport to the African Cup of Nations in Gabon, not being among the two best teams and finishing the qualifying rounds with only seven points from two wins, one draw and three defeats in six games.
