The Minister of Planning and Development, Salimo Ismael Valá, has challenged students, teachers and staff at the Tenente-General Armando Emílio Guebuza Higher Institute of Defence Studies (ISEDEF) to consider national defence as a strategic and vital foundation for the country’s sustainable development.
Speaking on “National Defence and Development: Assessment of Economic growth vs. Development of the FADM” during the inaugural ISEDEF lecture on Friday, May 23, Minister Valá stressed that defending a country is not limited to the use of weapons, but also means protecting dreams, guaranteeing stability, promoting justice and ensuring that all citizens, anywhere in the national territory, can live with dignity and confidence in the future.
ISEDEF is a military higher education institution dedicated to providing military courses for officers and also training in defence and security matters aimed at high-ranking government officials, political actors, economic agents in the public and private sectors, as well as journalists and other relevant stakeholders.
