Nampula, Mozambique – The Provincial Government of Nampula, in partnership with MozParks, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize their commitment to the Nampula Parks Initiative, a network of industrial parks aimed at accelerating economic development in Nampula province. This initiative is part of MozParks’ national expansion, mandated by the Government of Mozambique to establish industrial parks in every province.
MozParks already operates the Kenmare – Topuito Industrial Park in Nampula, a 215-hectare industrial hub built around Kenmare Resources’ Moma Titanium Minerals Mine, one of the world’s largest mineral sands producers. The park currently hosts several of Kenmare’s suppliers, including Selected Supplies, TEMOC, Cober Africa, and Duys Mozambique. It supports 2,500 jobs and provides income to 25,000 Mozambicans, contributing significantly to the province’s economic development.
In addition to industrial development, MozParks is committed to supporting employment opportunities through the MozYouth Foundation, which has been active in Nampula since last year. Today, the official launch of MozYouth activities in the province signifies a renewed focus on youth employment, training, and entrepreneurship support.
Speaking at the launch event, Governor of Nampula, Eduardo Mariamo Abdula, highlighted the important impact of this initiative, stating: “With this initiative, each industrial park created will be the foundation for business development and will enable the creation of ten times more jobs than the anchor company itself. By doing so, we will multiply the economic impact and ensure that more young people in our province have access to new opportunities in the job market. In this spirit, we are pleased to announce the launch of 100 paid internships for recent graduates in Nampula, providing them with six months of valuable work experience that will help build the next generation of skilled professionals driving our province’s development.”
General Director of MozParks, Onorio Manuel, stated: “Nampula has always been a province full of untapped potential. Our goal is to ensure that industries in Nampula thrive and that local businesses and workers fully benefit from these opportunities.”
