The president of the Municipal Council of Nampula, Paulo Vahanle, could be tried for corruption in March, according to the local press, citing court sources.
The press indicates that the mayor, “along with other officials of his administration, and the Municipal Council of the city of Nacala-Porto, were heard as defendants in separate cases by the Nampula Provincial Office to Combat Corruption (GPCC) on the 16th of December, in the context of the preparatory instruction of the records related to the crimes of embezzlement, illicit enrichment and falsification of documents,” writes Whampula Fax, cited by Sala da Paz.
However, Nelson Carvalho, the public relations director of Nampula municipal council, told Whampula Fax that the council was not yet aware of the possibility of the mayor’s trial next month.
Paulo Vahale pode ser julgado em Março próximo
