The list of names of individuals who ordered terrorist attacks in the province of Cabo Delgado will be made public within days, according to assurances given on Saturday in Maputo by the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi.
Speaking at the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Lusaka Agreement, which put an end to the armed struggle for national liberation, paving the way for the proclamation of independence, Nyusi called on the leaders of the insurgents to surrender themselves to the authorities as soon as possible, announcing that the Government’s patience is running out.
The Head of State expects the list to be announced within 15 days, when the country will be celebrating 25 September, the day of the Armed Forces of Defence of Mozambique (FADM).

On Saturday, the President of the Republic praised the dedication and determination of the veterans who are now part of the local force fighting terrorism and extremism in Cabo Delgado, stating that, with their contribution, the terrorists have no alternative but to defeat.
“We would like to express our appreciation to our veterans, who are part of the local force throughout the districts affected by terrorism, for having decided to take up arms again to fight a new enemy, despite their advanced age,” he praised.
He also praised the combined and successful actions carried out by the Defence and Security Forces (FDS), the Rwandan army and SAMIM, the latter having recently completed its missions after halting the insurgents’ actions.
Since October 2017, several districts of Cabo Delgado have been victims of terrorist attacks that have already caused more than four thousand deaths and forced more than a million people to seek shelter in safer areas, triggering a humanitarian crisis.
