Nacala International Airport was certified to receive night flights on June 16th, Aeroportos de Moçambique announced this Friday.
Night flights were cancelled last year due to the vandalisation of runway lighting systems, which also placed restrictions on aircraft taking off and landing in bad weather.
Nacala International Airport is not the only one subject to vandalism in Mozambique. Nampula airport has seen its electrical transformers vandalised last year, resulting in losses in the order of five million meticais.
Quelimane, Nampula and Tete airports have also suffered from theft of mesh fencing and runway lights.
