The Attorney General of the Republic (PGR) of Mozambique announced today the arrest of the well-known Mozambican musician “Doppaz” on the grounds of agitating for the murder of the President of the Republic and his son through videos on social networks.
“Following the publication of videos via social networks that attack the image and integrity of the President of the Republic and his family members, a criminal case was opened against the citizen Amândio Munhequeia, popularly known as ‘Doppaz’,” a statement from the PGR in the city of Maputo reads.
The note adds that in the video, the musician “demands that someone kill the President of the Republic and his son”, an action that presents “evidence of the practice” of crimes of “incitement to collective disobedience” and “public instigation to a crime”.
“Taking into account his recidivism in the perpetration of the aforementioned types of crime, the citizen was arrested, on the 6th of August and heard today, in the first interrogation before the Judge of the Criminal Instruction Section,” the statement adds, without detailing any coercive measures to be, or being applied to, the musician.
