Mozambique Music Meeting takes off today

Maputo hosts today the 2017 Mozambique Music Meeting, a musicians’ showcase taking place in various city locations through to Sunday.
“The event’s main objective is to showcase Mozambican music and artists to the world,” the organisation announced, having selected participants via online submissions at its website, mmmfestival.com.
“Ninety-one artists from all over the country signed up, of whom 17 were selected by an international jury,” the organisation explained.
These groups and artists will perform during the five days of the festival for the general public and about 40 international delegates, representatives of musical events, festivals, artists’ agencies and record labels.
The shows will take place at the CCFM Railway Museum, Gil Vicente Bar and Núcleo de Arte.
The roster of artists includes such names as Assa Matusse, Banda Moticoma, Deltino Guerreiro, Nelton Miranda, Timbila Muzimba, Banda Kakana, Miguel Xabindza, Wazimbo, Kapa Dech, Ras Haitrm, Banda Mandlozi, Selma Uamusse, Napalma, Stewart Sukuma, Granmah, Dama do Bling and Pedro Barbosa.
