Mozambique: State to finance 13 audiovisual, cinema productions

In celebration of 10 years of MUSIARTE and the 23rd edition of the Week of the Italian Language in the World, the Embassies of Italy and Switzerland in Mozambique and the Agostino Steffani Conservatory in Castelfranco, Veneto, will present two concerts in Maputo cathedral, at 7:00 pm on the 2nd and 3rd of November.
The first event will have as its theme, ‘Music and Sustainability’, in a concert in which a new generation of young musicians from MUSIARTE, teachers and special guests will participate.
‘Music and Sustainability’ will features works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Niccolò Paganini, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Robert Schumann, Pablo Sarasate, Frédéric Chopin, Jules Massenet, Damiano Lazzaron, Gioachino Rossini, Negros Spiritual, Friedrich Kuhlau, Muzio Clement, plus traditional African songs.
The second concert will hear a performance of Gioachino Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle with Stella Mendonça, soprano; Sónia Mocumbi, alto, Timóteo Júnior, tenor; Otto Maidi, bass, and the Vocalis Ensemble (MUSIARTE’s resident choir), with Geoffrey Gallagher on piano and Jéssica Urte on organ, under the direction of Daminano Lazzaron.
