Mueda administrator Patrício Mavili has confirmed that restrictions on movement have been put in place in that part of the country, a measure adopted in response to terrorist threats. Mavili also says that the situation in Mueda is calm.
“In a country where this type of situation occurs, there should be a security measure, because imagine if someone were to travel at 9:00 p.m., where would they go in a war zone?” the administrator asked.
Patrício Mavili also explained that night-time movement could confuse defence and security personnel. “How can the Defence and Security Forces control and defend the population, because we are all the same colour. This is a war between brothers,” he explained.
Mavili however denied there was any mandatory curfew in the district of Mueda, particularly in Mueda town, while admitting there was still some threat.
