The MozYouth Foundation is proud to announce the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Employment Institute (INEP) on July 5, 2024. This partnership marks a significant milestone for MozYouth as it continues to solidify its position as an independent foundation dedicated to improving youth employability in Mozambique.
Strengthening ties for youth empowerment
While MozYouth had previously engaged with INEP under its former identity as Mimi Niko Kazi (MNK), this new MoU represents the first formal agreement between the two organizations since MozYouth became an independent entity. The collaboration underscores the shared commitment of both parties to address youth unemployment and enhance employability skills through comprehensive training and internship programs.
Pedro Santos, General Director of the MozYouth Foundation, commented on the renewed partnership: “Re-establishing our collaboration with INEP as an independent foundation is a crucial step forward. This MoU will enable us to align our efforts more closely with national employment strategies and ensure that our programs meet the evolving needs of young job seekers in Mozambique.”
A vision for the future
The MoU with INEP is a strategic move to enhance the impact of MozYouth’s initiatives, which include delivering internships, fostering entrepreneurship, and providing training. With nearly 200 internships already underway and the first graduation approaching, MozYouth is poised to make significant contributions to the professional development of Mozambican youth.
Vanessa Muteia, Director of Operations at the MozYouth Foundation, highlighted the importance of the partnership: “Our collaboration with INEP is pivotal in expanding the reach and effectiveness of our programs. Together, we can create more opportunities for young people to gain the skills and experience they need to succeed in the job market.”
Juvenal Dengo, General Director of INEP, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership and provided additional insights: “Today, we formalized a Memorandum of Understanding with MozYouth, a foundation launched last year in an event led by Oswaldo Petersburgo, Secretary of State for Youth and Employment. MozYouth’s activities significantly contribute to the implementation of the government’s pre-professional internship program. This partnership ensures that young interns receive not only academic knowledge but also practical skills in a professional environment that respects labor rights and regulations.”
Dengo added: “As the Instituto Nacional de Emprego, we believe that MozYouth can be a strategic partner in promoting pre-professional internships across the country. These internships bridge the gap between academic knowledge and the realities of the job market, equipping young people with the necessary skills and soft skills to succeed as professionals or entrepreneurs. We congratulate MozYouth on this partnership and encourage the continuation of this impactful initiative.”
