MozYouth Foundation and the Instituto Nacional de Emprego (INEP) have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), reinforcing their joint mission to expand remunerated internship opportunities for young Mozambicans.
The MoU was signed by Roy Tembe, General Director of INEP, and Onório Manuel, Member of the Board of Directors of MozYouth. The signing took place in the presence of Caifadine Manasse, Minister of Youth and Sport, who emphasized that MozYouth is the right choice for the Ministry to continue providing employment opportunities to Mozambique’s youth. He noted that MozYouth has consistently demonstrated professionalism and tangible results, making it the right choice for continued collaboration.
Since its inception, MozYouth has allocated more than 2,000 interns across Mozambique, working closely with companies in sectors ranging from energy and manufacturing to services and NGOs. This nationwide effort is made possible not only through private sector participation but also thanks to the support of key donors, including GIZ, the Irish Embassy, and the Mozambique LNG Foundation, who have played an essential role in funding and sustaining the program.
In 2024 alone, the partnership between MozYouth and INEP enabled over 900 young people to enter the labor market through paid internships in more than 200 companies. These placements have given graduates and students valuable professional experience, while also helping businesses tap into a motivated pipeline of talent.
A key strength of MozYouth’s approach lies in its rigorous preparation process: every candidate undergoes interviews and cognitive assessments to ensure the best possible match with host companies. Once selected, interns are equipped with tailored training to help them transition smoothly into the workplace, reinforcing both their confidence and their readiness to deliver results.
“This collaboration not only ensures young people gain valuable, paid professional experience, but also supports businesses in identifying and preparing the next generation of skilled professionals,” said Manuel. “More than half of the interns placed through our program have gone on to secure full-time employment.”
By renewing this MoU, MozYouth and INEP are reaffirming their long-term commitment to building a more inclusive and dynamic job market in Mozambique. Together, they are helping to open doors for youth while encouraging companies and partners to invest in the country’s most valuable resource—its people.
