MozParks is pleased to announce the signing of a significant contract with Sociedade Moçambicana de Medicamentos (SMM) for setting up a pharmaceutical facility in Beluluane Industrial Park (BIP), marking a pivotal step forward in Mozambique’s industrial and healthcare sectors. This agreement will facilitate the construction of a state-of-the-art facility where SMM will produce vital medicines, contributing to the nation’s healthcare needs and economic growth.
The contract was officially signed at the 59 edition of FACIM 2024, the largest international trade show in Mozambique, at a panel discussion focused on industry and technology as key drivers of the country’s development. The signing ceremony was attended by high-level representatives of the Government, public and private sectors, with Adrian Frey, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MozParks, and Gustavo Martins da Cruz, Chief Executive Officer of SMM, formalizing the partnership.
Frey expressed his optimism about the collaboration, stating: “This is an extension of our strong partnership with SMM, representing a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to attract strategic investments to BIP. Together, we are not only enhancing the industrial capabilities of Mozambique but also directly contributing to the wellbeing of our communities through local pharmaceutical production.”
Martins da Cruz emphasized the strategic importance of this project, as it is a part of the company’s strategy to widen the range of locally manufactured medical and surgical materials. “Our new facility in Beluluane Industrial Park will be the cornerstone of our operations in Africa. By producing essential medications and medical supplies locally, we aim to significantly increase the availability of these critical resources within Mozambique”, said Martins da Cruz.
