A total of 120 national students will benefit from scholarships offered by the multinational Mozal, as part of its social responsibility efforts.
The project, which has been ongoing since 2018, has already trained over 390 young people in technical and higher education.
By offering 120 more scholarships, Mozal aims to provide opportunities to young people
who lack the financial means to continue their studies after completing secondary education. The scholarships also include students with special needs.
The 2025 edition offers applications in fields such as engineering, exact sciences, and social sciences, with beneficiaries attending Eduardo Mondlane University, Armando Emílio Guebuza Industrial University, and the Matola Industrial and Commercial Institute.
Additionally, 10 centres across various provinces, excluding Inhambane, will be included.
Mozal believes that education is a key factor in developing the human and technical skills necessary to increase employability and foster self-employment, contributing to the country’s development.
“The event we are witnessing today continues the actions of the Women in Industry
program. This program began in 2018 with the goal of empowering and integrating women
into industrial activities, where their participation is still relatively low,” said Gil Cumaio, Director of External Affairs at Mozal.
Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM) welcomes the initiative. “Scholarships may seem like just numbers, but behind those numbers are people. For each person, the goal is to help them develop a life project,” UEM representative Diniz Juízo said, noting that this was a way for Mozal to give back to society, sharing the benefits it has gained as a company and industry.
The beneficiaries have promised to make the best use of the opportunities provided. As in previous editions, the program launched this Tuesday will include free preparatory classes for admission exams for potential scholarship recipients.
