Mozambique: Special Holiday for the City of Beira

The president of Mozambique’s MozaBanco is one of the nominees for the African Banker of the Year award, a prize awarded with the sponsorship of the African Development Bank during the multilateral financial institution’sAnnual Meetings.
João Figueiredo is one of the nominees for this award, together with the presidents of Ecobank (Ade Ayeyemi), Cairo Bank (Tarek Fayed), Equity Bank of Kenya (James Mwangi) and Access Bank of Nigeria (Herbert Wigwe).
The awards is to be presented this year at a virtual meeting, which will take place on 26 August, the same week as the African Development Bank holds its Annual Meetings, which this year are scheduled for Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
MozaBanco is the only Portuguese-speaking representative in the series of awards that will be presented, and also has awards for the African Bank of the Year (Access Bank, Attijariwafa Bank, Ecobank, Guaranty Trust Bank and Trade and Development Bank) and the Investment Bank of the Year (Bank of America, Citi, EFG and Rand Merchant Bank).
