The water supply problem affecting around 6,000 inhabitants of the Diaca administrative post in Mocimboa da Praia district, Cabo Delgado province, has been alleviated with the inauguration of a rehabilitated water supply system.
The new system , estimated at more than US$186,000 (around 24 million meticais) in World Bank funding, was among the activities that comprise the crisis recovery program in the north of the country.
The Diaca water supply system comprises six boreholes powered by the national grid with energy generated by solar panels.
The rehabilitation of the local water supply system is another step towards stabilising the lives of Diaca residents, already affected by terrorist attacks.
The water supply system handover ceremony in Mocimboa da Praia was led 15 November by the governor of Cabo Delgado province, Valige Tauabo, who stressed the importance of preserving the infrastructure for as long as possible.
