Mozambique: More than 60,000 face water access crisis in Marrupa – RM

Nearly 62,000 residents of Marrupa district in Niassa province are facing a drinking water crisis, due to the limited number of water sources combined with the presence of rocky substrate in several parts of the district.
Marrupa residents Paulo Omar and Awusai Aidana are concerned about the situation and highlight the district headquarters village as the most critical, due to the low ground water levels in the borehole field that supplies the region.
At the moment, Marrupa district has 151 water supply sources, which cover only 42,300 out of a total of 103,000 inhabitants.
