The Minister of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources, Fernando Rafael, yesterday chaired a strategic meeting with senior managers from Access Bank in Maputo to discuss financing opportunities for priority projects, including housing, land infrastructure for young people, dam construction and water supply.
Access Bank detailed its financing mechanisms for housing and water supply, CEO of the Housing Development Fund Armindo Munguambe highlighting the challenges of social and affordable housing.
Octávio Chicoco, CEO of Águas da Região Metropolitana de Maputo (AdRM), addressed the challenges in the public water supply service and the implementation of prepaid meters as a priority in investment needs.
During the meeting, Minister Rafael mandated the creation of technical work teams for each area, aiming to ensure sustainable financing consensus, taking into account the capacities of the state and youth, especially in access to housing and land infrastructure.
Reinforcing the government’s commitment to the search for innovative and sustainable solutions for the sector, in addition to the minister, Permanent Secretary Hélio Banze and the directors Américo Dimande (Studies and Projects) and Eugénio Simbine (Planning and Cooperation) also participated.
