Mozambique: Mob kills two healers, accusing them of witchcraft – report

Two healers were beaten to death by a mob in Mbambane village, administrative post of Malehice, Chibuto district, southern Mozambique. The population accused them of witchcraft, Mozambican police have said.
A spokesman for the Republic of Mozambique Police Command in Gaza province said the two healers were clubbed to death by a crowd of people.
“We cannot allow people to take justice into their own hands. The people who did this will be detained and handed over to justice,” Radio Mozambique quotes Cláudio Massingue as saying.
The mob also burned down the healers’ houses and destroyed various possessions of theirs.
The man suspected of being the ringleader of the double homicide is being detained, Massingue said.
