Members of the central government are visiting the provinces affected by Cyclone Eloise to learn about the storm’s impact at first hand.
Prime Minister Carlos Agostinho do Rosário, ministers of Public Works, Water Resources and Housing, João Machatine, of Transport and Communications, Janfar Abdulai, and Deputy Minister of the Sea, Interior Waters and Fisheries, Henriques Bonjece, are in the province of Sofala.
Ministers of Mineral Resources and Energy, Max Tonela, of Land and Environment, Ivete Maibasse, and Deputy Minister for Transport and Communications, Manuela Ribeiro, will be in Zambézia.
The ministers of State Administration and Public Service, Ana Comoana, and of Combatants, Carlos Silliya, will work in the province of Inhambane.
Cyclone Eloise’s impact on Mozambique centred on Sofala province. According to preliminary reports, the storm killed four people, destroyed houses and infrastructure and left many areas flooded.
