Mozambique’s Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Carlos Zacarias, is in Davos, Switzerland, from 23 to 25 May, attending the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting 2022 on behalf of the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi.
Minister Zacarias this Monday (23-05) participated in several debates, namely ‘Energy Outlook: Overcoming the Crisis’, ‘Sustainable, Resilient Supply Chains’, and ‘Unlocking Carbon Markets’.
A communique from the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy states that Mozambique’s participation in the World Economic Forum’s Meeting is of paramount importance, as it is a platform for dialogue on current issues, for the establishment and promotion of cooperation partnerships, and for promoting investment in the country.
Held under the motto ‘History at a Turning Point: Government Policies and Business Strategies’, this year’s Davos meeting will be addressing, among other subjects, global cooperation, economic balance, energy transition, industrial revolution, industrial transformation, risk and resilience.
It is the first face-to-face Davos forum in two years, after the Covid-19 outbreak in 2020. The key issues to be discussed include inflation, job creation, sustainable recovery, climate change and other important matters related to government policies and economic growth.
The forum will also address the impact of the war between Russia and Ukraine, with a focus on energy and food security.
Nearly 2,500 global leaders from business, politics and civil society are expected to take part in the Davos meeting this week.
