Mozambique: Macomia in panic following clashes with terrorists - AIM report
At least three terrorists were killed last Friday morning in Ngalonga village, Nangade district, northern Cabo Delgado, Carta de Moçambique reports.
According to Carta sources, the three terrorists were shot down by local militiamen after a group of insurgents invaded the village.
Sources say the group burned houses and looted food, causing general panic in the community.
Carta sources did not elaborate on whether or not there were civilian fatalities.
Militiamen have been strategic partners of the Defence and Security Forces (FDS) in combating terrorist attacks in the province of Cabo Delgado. Their actions have been described as effective, especially in the districts of Nangade, Mueda and Muidumbe, where they have repelled several terrorist offensives.
